I was pretty impressed by the music since it really set the tone, even if it keeps playing over and over. I’ve never been so engrossed in a background music. A few notable ones are from Hana Yori Dango and Avengers.
The cast was great! Everyone did really well. Special mention to Takeuchi Ryoma. This guy will have a future! I was particularly moved with episode 2 when he was so scared of the surgery. His emotions get past the screen it’s like you can really feel his worrying and nervousness. It was just apt for him to be the narrator, I really felt him. I was already impressed ever since Otaka Dan in Teiichi no Kuni and I can definitely say he’s worth a follow. Of all aspiring actors, I’m glad I saw him in the limited movies and dramas I watch.
Saeki Seigo was another thing. He was so brilliant he looked like an antagonist who was always the good guy after all this time. Reminds me of Severus Snape. Great actor, no doubt.
Takashina is an inspiration to all aspiring doctors. He has the talent, the right attitude and the right mix of discovery for the medical community. He was just pretty stupid to still report everything to Nishizaki after he drove him away in the Caesar operation. But I’m glad it ended well for him too.
Need I mention? Nino is a given. He’s always great in every film he stars in. Never disappoints!
Hospital politics is pretty intense though. Makes you wonder if you have Moriyas, Nishizakis and Kurosakis in your own ward. We need more of Sera, Takashina, Tokai and Saeki who are willing to risk their jobs to save a patient.
I liked the message of the drama, too. Keeps you humble and learning.
